Ayurvedic Lifestyle

Digestion is the foremost component of health, and the right nutrition for our personal balance of doshas will help us to thrive.

Ayurvedic nutrition is a major focus at The Ayurvedic Healing Village , where every meal is a feast of exquisite vegetarian cuisine, and guests can attend regular cookery lessons. However, the food we consume and digest is just one of a two-fold approach to Ayurvedic nutrition. The other major source of input to the body is what we take in through our senses. According to Ayurvedic life science, everything absorbed by the five senses can be categorized as 'food', or types of input that directly influence our health and state of mind. This leads to a core focus on environmental factors in restoring the individual to a state of natural balance.

'Food' is everything taken in by the mouth (food and water), the nose (breath), the ear (silence, mantras and music), the skin (sunlight and minerals) and the eyes (our surroundings). Of equal importance to diet, therefore, is environment and our response to it. This is the reason for the importance of regular Yoga and Meditation practice in achieving optimum health. Just as bodily nutrition needs to be pure and natural, so we owe it to ourselves to choose wholesome surroundings and train the mind to cope with the inevitable influence of stress.

Kairali places a strong focus on the practice of Yoga, as the ancient twin of Ayurveda. Able to empower individuals to achieve their own healing and relaxation, there is no better practice for preparing the body for meditation, or even as a curative approach to deal with chronic physical conditions. The Ayurvedic Healing Village prides itself on an excellent programme of Yogic education, which intends to give our guests all the tools they need to sustain their own wellbeing.

Ayurvedic Cleanse

Ayurvedic treatment programmes often begin with the cleansing process of Panchakarma, which aims to purify the body and restore youth.

The Panchakarma sequence is the biggest attraction of health tourism in India and certainly the technique for which the state of Kerala is famous. Every Kairali spa and treatment centre offers the chance to renew one's sense of wellbeing with a practice that has remained unchanged for thousands of years.

Special medicated oils are used in combination with purgation, enemas, steam therapy and Ayurvedic massage, to remove toxins and restore balance in the doshas. The process is intense and transformative: guests will benefit from a quiet atmosphere, special diet and gentle yoga and meditation, available at our spas and retreat centre

Kairali offers numerous other detoxification programmes, all based on traditional practice and oriented around specific health aims, such as stress relief, arthritis, sinusitis, migraine, post pregnancy care, beauty and weight loss programmes.

Ayurvedic Cure

Kairali Ayurvedic Group offers a vast range of specific Ayurvedic treatments, while acknowledging that there are as many programmes as there are individuals.

The basis of treatment courses is a 'Prakruti analysis', performed by our world-class Ayurvedic doctors. It is a consultation unlike any offered by modern medicine; a leisurely process that perceives each individual as unique and conducts a careful physical examination and interview in order to meet the personal health aims of each individual. Our specialists delve deeply into Vedic healing scripture to ascertain the individual's true nature and presiding dosha imbalance, allowing them to form a lasting approach to wellbeing. A preliminary detox, curative medicines and lifestyle education give our guests a peronalised toolkit with which to maintain their renewed sense of health.
